Yay! A new story! I really like your artwork and colouring on this one, Reinder, nice full panels too. Still, "Gurn" holds well up against it. Good to see it again. (I seem to recollect that you didn't like your artwork on "Gurn".)

This said, I don't think you should still be allowed to draw Ragna's sword the way you do in that last panel. It looks awfully clumsy, more like an elongated triangle. Or would changing its look go against continuity?

Not particularly. It's just that under deadline pressure, some realistic detail goes out the window. And there was quite a bit of deadline pressure on this story.

In that light, it's only the more impressive how you managed to produce such nice artwork.

Does this story take place before Kel met Jodoque? I noticed the gang is complete (not 'split up' as the case is since 'Soap opera').

Yep. And this one will be moved to the very early parts of the archive after it's finished. Probably it'll end up as the follow-up to "Alchemists".

One of these days you're going to have to post a definitive timeline for all the various stories, because it does get a bit confusing at times.

"In that light, it's only the more impressive how you managed to produce such nice artwork."

Not to mention that Pothelmus is looking more and more De Smetish (which is a good thing).

BTW, Reinder, I have always resented that I could not draw, but I especially resented that when I was a teenager, because it meant I could not draw naked women. In the light of that confession: what's up with the leg warmers on Kel? What were your feelings towards Jane Fonda when you were a kid?

Um, yeah.

Peter de Smet was a greater influence on Headsmen than on this story, which is early Hanco Kolk with a bit of Greg and a sprinkling of Vandersteen tossed in.

The legwarmers were based on a picture I saw in which the Devil had hairy, but not goat-like legs. I tried a number of variants of the Devil disguise, including some with fur skirts, but only the nude one got the, er, texture right.

I had absolutely no feelings whatsoever towards Jane Fonda until I saw Barbarella as a teenager, when I thought she was a bit of all right for the ripe old age she was already at at the time. Her use or otherwise of legwarmers didn't register on my radar, though.

I think the legwarmers were used in her famous Workout videos, not in her famous space operas.

When looking at your cast page, I thought it was your Duke Henry that looked Kolk-and-De-Wit-ish. What do I know... BTW, the Duke's detail page seems to be lacking an image (http://rocr.xepher.net/images/henry.png).

I love 1980s pop culture now but didn't have much time for it in the actual, real 1980s. So I never saw any of the workout videos.
